Lucy and Shereen have been having Personal Training sessions together with me for 18 months now and due the recent changes for us all we have had to make a few adjustments! The virtual world is an interesting realm that takes a bit of getting used to. Nevertheless, when it comes to Personal Training, it is just as effective. Keep reading to learn more about the benefits of training together!
“It’s a really good way to spend some time with a friend and get fit at the same time”
We know that exercising is great for both our mind and bodies, however, it can still be difficult to try and maintain interest. Having a partner to train with makes you more likely to stick to your commitment and lift each other up when you need.
“We do a lot of chatting and giggling but we also put in some seriously hard work”
It gives you the chance to catch up, have a laugh and encourage each other to get healthier and fitter. It’s a win-win. On those days where you don’t feel like exercising, knowing that your friend will be there with you makes time fly by!
It encourages accountability and motivation
Two of the most key factors in helping you achieve your desired fitness goals are accountability and motivation, but what does this actually mean?
Accountability means establishing guidelines, this can be through making a schedule to stick to in order to minimise missing workouts. Creating a schedule together helps to make everyone accountable and dedicated.
Motivation encourages us to be accountable! Exercise comes with intrinsic motivational factors such as the release of endorphins and the reduction of stress. This keeps us wanting to exercise! However, motivation can sometimes be lacking and this is perfectly ok. Exercising together makes us more likely to stick to sessions and motivate each other to keep going!
A new way of personal training virtually
During these difficult times, Personal Training may seem very daunting due to practical reasons. However, it is perfectly possible to create a natural and personal environment virtually, especially with a friend there to help you feel more comfortable!
“When lockdown started, I was really dreading the thought… but zoom works really well. We still work to the same intensity from our own living rooms”
Training from home can actually be more practical and time saving as you don’t have to travel to a set location.
If after reading this you think you’d like to give virtual Personal Training a whirl feel free to get in touch 🙂 I’ be happy to answer any of your questions or offer advice about exercising at home too.
Until next time have a lovely week and enjoy the sunshine – fingers crossed it lasts a little while longer!
