1. Use Extra Virgin Olive Oil / Coconut Oil / Rapeseed Oil for all frying instead of sunflower oil, they are packed with antioxidants and health fats – a definite winner!
2. Make friends with your local butcher or visit a farmers market. Freshly bought organic meat is much better that the packaged meat bought from the supermarket.
3.There are also a few healthy food swaps that you can do to get some essential vitamins and minerals
Cherry tomatoes instead of baked beans
Mushrooms instead of black/white pudding
Spinach instead of Hash browns
4. Why not try oat pancakes instead of toast. They are so easy to make and taste delicious too, cooking from scratch is a fantastic way to avoid preservatives and to know exactly what is going into your food.
Ingredients:
X4 tbsp Oats
X2 eggs
Boiling water/warm almond milk
Method:
Mix the oats and eggs together
Gradually add the boiling water/almond bit by bit to desired consistency
Fry in extra virgin olive on a pan for approximately 10mins or until golden brown on both sides.
So in a nutshell a healthy farmhouse breakfast would include Bacon, Sausage, Egg, Spinach, Cherry Tomatoes, Mushrooms on top of a yummy oat pancake. How does that sound? Not too bad eh?
